Lemon Panna Cotta
Research and Understanding
Panna cotta first appeared in Italian cookbooks in the 1960s, but some claim it's a traditional dessert from Piedmont. Anecdotes credit a Hungarian woman in the early 1900s with its invention. A dish called latte inglese from 1879 may have been a similar preparation.
Panna Cotta is a simple dessert made with cream and gelatin. It has a luxurious texture and is often served with fruit and a sweet sauce for added flavor. A crumble can also be added for a crunchy topping.
Making Panna Cotta is easy and adaptable without needing fancy equipment or ingredients. It can be gluten-free and dairy-free for vegan diets. The only challenge is getting the texture right by adjusting the recipe for the gelatin and dairy used.
