Each person I have researched made significant contributions to their audience and the world. Tagore used poetry to change the West's view of India. Marquez exposed the underbelly of the Cuban government. Morrison crafted African American stories to expose the truth.

What are the similarities and/or differences in these contributions?

These influential writers differed in their writing styles and topics. Tagore's range included poetry, screenwriting, and painting, while Marquez was a creative writer focusing on short stories and journalism. Morrison had many writing styles but favored non-fiction. Their topics were influenced by their experiences.

What is the historical context of each person and their work? What era were they part of? Explain any connections between the three historical contexts.

Tagore, born in Bangali, India in 1861, changed traditional literature with a new writing style. Marquez, born in Avacataco, Columbia in 1927, used writing to bring out Columbia's character. Morrison, born in Loraine, Ohio in 1931 during the Great Depression, advocated for equality with her unique experiences as an African American woman.

Big idea generating with the use of conceptualization as well as group discussion. Recognizing the writers connections to one another and the themes of their writings.

Type attribute testing to determine the proper use of space and elements to properly communicate to viewers.

Experimentation with physical type manipulation and photography to explore different concepts. Manipulating type to communicate voice and big ideas.
